Pub names from Moulsham Street
public houses have saved our heritage
I was surprised this year how many of the pubs have closed in moulsham street some look like they will be closed for a long time i was even more surprised when researching pub names for moulsham street on pubcensus.co.uk
it shows ANCHOR,BAYHORSE,BLACKHORSE,COOPERS ARMS,CRICKETERS,
CROSS KEYS,EAGLE,KINGS ARMS,MASONS ARMS,OLD GEORGE,STAR & GARTER,OLD SWAN,
OLD WHITE HORSE,PRINCE OF WALES,SURPRICE,THREE QUEENS,TRAVELLERS FRIEND,WINDMILL,
thats a lot of public houses streching from the towns stone bridge to the park end of moulsham street i suspect in these names are some that have changed names a few times like bay horse was travellers friend before 1890
and the star & garter used to be the three queens
till 1874
our earlist publican listed in the street is 1789 at the Anchor
William Pearson snr I am sure some of these names will bring back great memories it also shows a wonderful heritage the british pub has saved for us
